Turndown with Christie Moeller

Turndown with Christie Moeller

The secret with Las Vegas-based Christie Moeller is that you probably already know her. She's been featured in editorial fashion layouts like GQ Magazine and Travel & Leisure. You may have also seen her signature style and iconic red hair floating around your Instagram. If none of this is ringing a bell, we'd like to introduce you to Christie, a fashion stylist, blogger, and editor focused on teaching people how to find their signature style.

Having found her love for fashion in vintage clothing, mixed patterns, and classic rock, Christie has turned her inventive take on fashion into a career. Uninhibited, her audience is an array of men and women of every background who covet her advice, conveniently located on her blog. A blog that shares creative fixes to everyday fashion problems, tips on following the latest trends, and ways to dress more sustainably. As with her day-to-day life, Christie doesn't shy away from bold choices, gorgeous outfits, and looks that'll outlive momentary trends. Luckily for us, that means she certainly doesn't shy away from dishing out the details of her Turndown routine.

Read on to get an inside look at Christie's favorite oases (hint: it's vintage) and the importance of 15-second dance parties, baths, backyards, and more (not consecutively, of course). And just remember what happens in Vegas definitely does not stay in Vegas ;)

What are your favorite (hidden) oases? Favorite places to be - parks, cities, bars, any place you absolutely adore!

I love to explore restaurants and vintage shops when I travel.  I try to make time on every work trip to get at least one of each in.  Recent favorites are: Vintage on First in Hoboken NJ; Cafe Pasqual’s in Santa Fe NM (the corn pancakes will change your life); 4Kinship also in Santa Fe NM– Amy the owner reworks vintage pieces into works of art! It’s a favorite hidden spot to shop of stylist’s and celebs.

What oasis is on your bucket list? Travel wishlist!!

Ireland is definitely on my “I gotta get there” list. I’m obsessed with the TV Show Derry Girls so I would love to visit Derry and be a Derry girl lol. I also really want to see the smashing waves of the Kerry Coastline and visit the Isle of Sky Fairy Glen in Scotland.  A little “tour of my roots” I guess.

What book are you currently unwinding with?

I just got back from Santa Fe Market where I attended Fashion Shows by Native Designers and I picked up “La Llorona Ghost Stories of the Southwest” by Rodarte so I’m currently scaring myself to sleep (or should I say awake) at night.

What 4-5 songs make up the sound track of your life?

  1. Story of My Life Social Distortion
  2. Relax Max Dinah Washington
  3. Cherry Bomb The Runaways
  4. Everyday is Like Sunday The Smiths
  5. Supermodel Maneskin

Where is your favorite hidden space in your home?

My Backyard.  Since I spend most of my days and nights at work indoors I love to sit outside in nature in the quiet and ground myself.

What is your personal “turndown routine” that helps you transition from day to night?

I always take a bath to “wash the day” off.  It helps me to relax, calm my mind and leave work behind.  I have a crazy busy monkey brain so calming it before heading into the evening hours is really important.

What is something you do just for you?

15 sec dance parties. Whenever I feel down or overwhelmed I stop, shake it off and have a 15 second dance party.  Try it!  It totally takes the edge off.

What’s your favorite maxi dress or jumpsuit and why?

I am OBSESSED with the upcycled  Vintage Military FlightSuits from 4Kinship.com  They are the comfiest and coolest pieces ever! A total conversation starter and they fit perfectly on my COVE hangers.

What are your favorite styling tips for winter when all we seem to want to put on are cozy sweat sets?

Maxi dresses and skirts with tights and boots are an easy comfy alternative that lets you look a bit more polished.  OR if you want to do sweats, pair them with boots, a chic band tee and a trench- that always gives an easy edgy vibe.

You have some of the BEST tips and tricks, how do you come up with them?

Usually it’s from something that happens on set.  Either a wardrobe malfunction I need to fix or a question from a model or client.  I jot it down in my notes and save it for a TikTok later.
