10 Easy Halloween Costumes Already in Your Closet

10 Easy Halloween Costumes Already in Your Closet

Spooky Season is upon us, and with it comes all the ghost-shaped chocolates, the sticky-fingered toddlers, the classic Halloween Movies (yes, we mean, Hocus Pocus), the haunted hayrides, and the difficult choice between forgoing a costume or buying a cheap polyester “sexy” costume. Well, there’s an in-between choice, and the good news is you don’t have to wrestle your way through a Spirit Halloween store. We’ve compiled our best and favorite Halloween costumes that feature YOUR gorgeous maxi dresses and jumpsuits that you can wear all year long out to dinner or even to work (we won’t tell you where to strut your stuff). We’ve got 10 gorgeous costume ideas for a one-of-a-kind Halloween, minus the stress. Keep reading if you watched Batman this year and drooled over Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman, if you’re still thinking about that Top Gun beach scene, or if you love the idea of a classic witch.

1. Poison Ivy

For fans of the batman-universe and gorgeous red-headed superheroes, head over to your closet and look for anything in a green shade.  Pair your look with some faux leaves, a few green face jewels, and some intense green makeup to charm people all night long. We’re partial to a jumpsuit, and if you don’t have one, look no further than this one from Alice & Olivia.

2. Leopard

For fans of animal prints, and all things fierce, go for something simple and sexy this year with a Leopard printed midi dress. Pair it with some adorable cat ears and paint on some whiskers. Our hint? If you want to change things up, grab a guitar (or microphone) and rock out as if you’re in Josie and the Pussycats.

3. Zebra

Whether you pronounce it Zee-bra or Zeh-bra, this sexy zebra print maxi dress is almost TOO nice to wear on one night only. Pair it with a black-and-white smokey eye this October 31st for some saucy trick-or-treating. Then, in November, pair it with your favorite heels, a crackling fireplace, a glass of something strong, and maybe even some arm candy.

4. Greek Goddess

This is your chance to bring out all those whites AFTER Labor Day. Hunt around your closet for a gorgeously drapey white maxi dress, and bring it out to play the role of a Greek Goddess. Accessorize with a gold belt, any gold jewelry you may have, and some shimmery gold body highlighter. You can customize the look depending on the goddess you want to play. For Aphrodite, try a golden wreath.

5. Catwoman

When you think of Catwoman, you think “black, tight, and sexy,” which is precisely the look we’re going for. Dig around your closet for anything fitting that description, such as this formfitting catsuit. If it weren’t Halloween, we’d suggest pairing this with a jean jacket and some bottomless brunch, BUT for a Catwoman costume, go ahead and accessorize with some tall leather boots, a mask, and (of course) red lipstick.

6. Witch

You can’t go wrong with a classic witch costume; the good news is this is one of the simplest costumes out there. You just need a black maxi dress (long-sleeves preferred), a witch’s hat, and (if you can wrangle one out of your broom closet) a broom.

7. Bride of Frankenstein

Dress up the role of the ultimate romantic, and scare some villagers with your made-man, as the Bride of Frankenstein. Sift through your closet for a white maxi dress, pair it with dark lipstick, some side-of-the-neck screws, and of course, the classic black and white wig. And remember, the most important thing to remember is that, technically, it’s Frankenstein’s monster’s bride (but that’s a bit of a mouthful).

8. Top Gun

If OneRepublic’s “I Ain’t Worried” is playing nonstop in your head, you’ve always had a crush on Tom Cruise, and if there’s a jumpsuit hidden somewhere in your closet, you should look into a Top Gun costume this year. Pair any jumpsuit (but especially this one) with your favorite aviator glasses (really commit with this helmet), and you’ll be saying “Good Morning, Aviators!” in no time.

9. Tinkerbell (Fairy)

Add a little magic to your costume this year with a gorgeously stunning form-fitting maxi dress in green (or any other bright color you may have), and pair it with some pixie-wings and two cotton balls glued on your shoes. If you’re really feeling in a Tinkerbell mood, carry some “pixie-dust” to sprinkle on unknown passersby.

10. Unicorn

Get magical and mystical this Halloween by roleplaying something a little different. If you have any multicolored or rainbow maxi dresses (like this one), you can take up the role of a Unicorn this year. This look couldn’t be any easier, just add highlighter to every part of your body, keep your eye makeup light and glittery, and of course, don’t forget the horn.

And obviously there's definitely no need to stress about how you'll be storing any of these dresses or jumpsuits post-Halloween - we've got you covered there!
